Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for fallen timber and flooding.

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
