US legislators from both political sides are pointing fingers as many of federal staff face unpaid leave and the closure continues with no resolution in view.

The Democratic Party have resisted to back the Republican funding bill unless ending medical assistance that they say many working families rely on are continued.

Republicans want Democrats to approve a temporary bill first and then they can address the support payments.

This California resident is concerned about the broad effect of the funding halt on ordinary Americans.

The GOP have fifty-three yeas, they require sixty to approve the measure. Could it be that difficult to reach agreement over 7 votes so that the public aren't being hurt?

If this continues for an extended period, the bottom line is US citizens are being affected, US residents are being influenced by this and a leader needs to do something to be the adult in the group.

I feel sometimes legislators are so removed from ordinary citizens, the regular person living their lives, so they forget what the challenge is like and I feel they should remember that, notably if it's a large number of Americans that are not getting paid.

That's a significant number of Americans missing wages, that's a lot of people not putting their money toward the economy. The public are just being harmed.

This Old Line State citizen acknowledges this closure will bring suffering to many US citizens, but she believes it is a worthy political fight.

I'm concerned because there is no positive result with the federal government being inactive.

I'm extremely anxious about what's going to happen to low-income families, scholars who depend on government grants and public servants.

But this is a good fight for the Democratic Party to pursue. Of course employment are going to be cut, programmes are going to go without funding, which is so unfortunate but I don't think that is blood that the Democratic Party would have on their record.

I think it's important to hold out, this is communicating a powerful message to their voters.

This California citizen is anxious the Democrats are missing strategy in their closure plan.

I am unsure if the Senate Democratic leader has a strategy for an exit strategy to negotiations or how to get the party away from this.

I don't know if the Democratic Party have a clear message to the public on what they're doing.

In terms of social media messaging, the Republicans clearly have the edge. The messaging is not resounding on what Democrats are attempting.

I'm presently at a juncture where I'm kind of anxious because government shutdowns don't help anyone.

I'm going to be unaffected, but for everyone else who needs the federal system, who hopes to explore a National Park or institution, they're going to be impacted, if not currently, then in the near future.

And that is unreasonable.

This is typical political maneuvering. It is a continuing resolution they are seeking to pass, that the opposition oppose.

People are calling it a Democratic closure, it's not the fault of the Republicans, it's on the Democratic leader, he's proceeding to remain relevant within his political faction - in the meanwhile, everyone's in the uncertainty.

I fail to observe that this is going to resolve.

The average Americans are stuck in the crossfire, and the left are ready to sacrifice them. They're hurting their cause any benefits when they actually block things like this.

Democrats' strategy is a difficult one, but sadly it is a necessary one.

They have not been able to do much to slow or block the current administration's policies.

The current president is a bully and if you give into a bully he's going to ask for more, that's how aggressive people operate. So you have to resist a bully to make him understand you're not going to give things up for without resistance.

The juncture when it becomes too much is when the Democrats start failing in the narrative struggle, if the story changes to criticizing the Democrats then it might be necessary to reach a resolution.

This Arizona voter is not directly impacted by the funding lapse so he is accepting of the shutdown lasting a while, if that is what it is needed for Republicans to succeed.

I would believe after the year that the left have had, I would have anticipated that they would have gone along with the temporary funding, at least temporarily.

I am in favor of what the Republicans are pursuing, I'm in favor of reducing federal outlays.

The left have turned so antagonistic of the current president, whatever he suggests I believe they would find cause to oppose him.

I individually am not experiencing the pressure that many people are, this leaves me untouched.
